During his working visit to the Vatican, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with Patriarch of the Armenian Catholic Church, His Beatitude Raphael Bedros XXI Minassian, at the Levonian Seminary adjacent to the Armenian Catholic Church of Saint Nicholas in Rome.
Held in a Q&A format, the meeting addressed Armenia’s domestic and foreign policy, existing issues, the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process, regional developments, and steps to overcome current challenges.
Both sides also exchanged views on the promotion and preservation of Christian values, along with various spiritual and societal matters.
At the end of the meeting, Patriarch Minassian presented Prime Minister Pashinyan with a liturgical vestment containing a relic of Saint Ignatius Maloyan, which is normally kept in the Zmmar Monastery Museum in Lebanon.
He also gifted a commemorative medal dedicated to the canonization ceremony held in the Vatican on October 19.
The canonization ceremony of Archbishop Ignatius Maloyan and six other Blesseds took place at Saint Peter’s Square, presided over by Pope Francis. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended the event, which included a prayer in Armenian in honor of Maloyan.
