Within the framework of the 151st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Geneva, Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan met with Sahiba Gafarova, Chair of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis.
The sides welcomed the agreements reached in Washington and expressed a positive view of ongoing initiatives aimed at normalizing bilateral relations.
They underscored the importance of continuing constructive dialogue and affirmed their readiness to support confidence-building efforts at the parliamentary level.
On August 8, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a joint Declaration at the White House. During the same event, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, in the presence of the three leaders, pre-signed an agreement titled “On the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.”
