Speaking from the National Assembly podium, Civil Contract faction MP Narek Grigoryan declared his support for Father Aram, now officially defrocked and known as Stepan Asatryan, Pastinfo reports.
“I declare from here that I stand with Father Aram. I promise that when all this is over and the desecrators are expelled from the Church, I will bring my children and ask Father Aram to baptize them,” Grigoryan stated.
On October 21, by order of the Catholicos of All Armenians, Father Aram Asatryan was defrocked and reclassified as a layperson. He has announced plans to celebrate Mass this Sunday at Hovhannavank, where Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said he will attend.
