Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan announced on Public Television that Armenia is exclusively purchasing new-generation weapons.
"We’ve also boosted local defense industry production. We now have weapons developed through Armenian innovation. Our goal is to improve quality to a competitive level and enter the market," the minister stated.
He stressed that the country’s armed forces and weaponry will be used solely to protect its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence.
"We have no intention of deploying our armed forces beyond Armenia’s borders," Papikyan added.
He noted that the atmosphere along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border has changed significantly since August 8, with no major incidents reported.
According to him, even minor incidents are now resolved through communication and dialogue.
On August 8, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a joint declaration at the White House following a trilateral summit. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov initialed a peace agreement establishing diplomatic relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, in the presence of the three leaders.
