Father Vrtanes Baghalyan, the spiritual pastor of the St. Hovhannes Church in Byurakan, has been summoned for questioning on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., according to a statement on the church’s official Facebook page.
“The person summoning Father Vrtanes and other priests is either unaware that the clergy of Aragatsotn Diocese celebrate Divine Liturgy on Sundays or is acting with bias and under an unlawful order with the intent to disrupt liturgical services in the Diocese,” the statement said.
On the same day and time, Father Sargis Sargsyan, who was scheduled to conduct Mass at Hovhannavank, was also summoned for questioning by investigative authorities.
