Armenia and the European Union are expected to sign new cooperation documents, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan announced during joint parliamentary committee discussions on the 2026 state budget, Armenpress reports.
“EU-Armenia cooperation includes a number of essential components. We’re also planning to sign new documents,” Mirzoyan said.
According to him, a new EU-Armenia roadmap is 99.9% negotiated, and overall relations with the EU are developing with high intensity.
“Sometimes, we finalize agreements—whether financial or programmatic—and by the time we’re ready to sign, the content is already outdated because the relationship has progressed so fast that we need a new and more relevant document,” he was quoted as saying by Sputnik Armenia.
Mirzoyan also stressed that closer ties with the EU do not contradict Armenia’s balanced foreign policy toward other partners.
The EU Council has approved launching a visa liberalization dialogue with Armenia. On September 9, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan officially announced the start of this process.
