Armenia's Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with a group of international journalists and experts visiting Yerevan under the joint initiative of the “For Equal Rights” NGO and the Barcelona Centre for International Affairs (CIDOB). During the meeting, he presented the key priorities of Armenia’s foreign policy.
The minister discussed the new regional developments following the agreements reached on August 8 in Washington. He emphasized the importance of the initialed Peace Agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the unblocking of regional communications, as critical steps toward stability and development in the South Caucasus and the wider region, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Mirzoyan elaborated on Armenia's vision for unblocking transportation routes, as laid out in the Crossroads of Peace initiative, highlighting the Trump Route as a vital component.
He also noted the unprecedented momentum in Armenia-European Union cooperation and addressed the prospects of deepening ties. Discussions focused on expanding collaboration under the new Armenia-EU agenda in areas such as economy, people-to-people ties, and strengthening democratic institutions.
The meeting included an exchange of views on the challenges Armenia faces. Minister Mirzoyan outlined the government's strategies to address these challenges effectively.
He also responded to other questions raised by participants.
On August 8, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a joint declaration following a trilateral meeting at the White House. During the same visit, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, in the presence of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the U.S., preliminarily signed the “Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.”
