A formal request has been submitted to Armenia’s Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) by Tashir Capital CJSC to lower electricity tariffs, lawyer Vardan Aloyan confirmed, Pastinfo reports.
Aloyan explained that this new submission builds on a previous request by Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) filed on June 6, which the PSRC rejected. The earlier appeal was based on a 3.6 billion dram financial surplus. The current request now cites a cumulative surplus exceeding 6 billion drams, attributed to system savings and reduced losses.
“This time the application was submitted on behalf of the General Director of ENA, shareholder Tashir Capital, and the company’s board of directors, to avoid procedural grounds for rejection,” said Aloyan.
He noted that the PSRC is legally obligated to respond within a set timeframe. “We hope the request will be reviewed and the tariff reduced to ease the burden on the population. Expectations are positive,” he added.
Earlier, Narek Karapetyan, Deputy Head of the Tashir Group, stated that their previous request had been denied prior to recent public attention surrounding ENA. The June proposal was rejected in a letter from the PSRC Chair dated June 13, despite system efficiency gains.
The PSRC had previously stated it would consider tariff adjustments by year-end based on the full financial performance of energy sector companies for 2025.
