Three new members join Armenian-Azerbaijani commission

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has amended the decision establishing the commission on opening communications between Armenia and Azerbaijan by updating its composition, his office reported.

The commission has been expanded to include three additional members:

  • Karen Andreasyan, Armenia’s representative on international legal matters
  • Artashes Tumanyan, adviser to the prime minister
  • Anahit Shirinyan, head of the Security Council Office of Armenia

The update follows the requirements of Article 33 of Armenia’s Law on Normative Legal Acts.

“Guided by the provisions of Article 33 of the Law on Normative Legal Acts, the annex to the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 905-A of October 8, 2025, on the establishment and composition of the commission on opening communications between Armenia and Azerbaijan is hereby restated in a new version,” the decision reads.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and U.S. President Donald Trump reached an agreement in Washington to launch the Trump Route.

“The route will allow Azerbaijan to access Nakhichevan while fully respecting Armenia’s sovereignty. Armenia is also establishing an exclusive partnership with the U.S. to develop this corridor, with a potential 99-year term, renewable for another 99 years. We expect major infrastructure investments, and U.S. companies are eager to enter these countries and spend big—bringing economic benefits to all three nations,” Trump said.

On September 11, Pashinyan clarified that Armenia did not lease land to the U.S. for 99 years but granted a construction right.
