Cascade complex redevelopment enters active phase

The redevelopment project for the Cascade complex has received official approval from the Government of Armenia and is now entering the implementation phase. This was announced by Sona Tevanyan, adviser to the Mayor of Yerevan, during a working meeting at the Municipality.

She noted that contracts will be signed with the investor to regulate the construction of the new section of the Cascade and the alienation of adjacent land parcels, according to Armenpress.

“In the near future, demolition work will begin on the existing foundations of an earlier, unfinished construction at the top section of the Cascade. At the same time, the project concept will be coordinated with Armenia’s Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports,” said Tevanian.

Yerevan Municipality received the investment proposal on January 15 of this year. The project will be implemented by a consortium of four companies, including the only American company that participated in and won the tender.

A preliminary agreement was signed with the winning bidder, allowing the city to obtain, free of charge, a conceptual sketch for the Cascade created by renowned French architects Wilmotte & Associés. This and an alternative design were put to a public vote. After about a month of public discussions, the winning sketch was selected based on the highest score.
