A train carrying Kazakh grain has arrived in Armenia, having passed through Kazakhstan, Russia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia, according to the government.
The shipment delivered 1,000 tons of wheat to Armenia by rail.
Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure David Khudatyan and the Ambassador of Kazakhstan were present at the train’s arrival at the Ayrum station in Tavush Province, reports 1lurer.am .
“This became possible in the context of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as part of the agreements signed in Washington in August. Just yesterday, a train carrying Russian wheat also arrived in Armenia,” Khudatyan said.
He emphasized that the development is not only politically important but also economically significant, as it drastically reduces the time required to transport cargo to Armenia.
The Kazakh ambassador called the event historic.
“Currently, Armenia–Kazakhstan relations are experiencing dynamic growth in all directions. Today’s event clearly reflects that,” he said.
On the night of November 6, approximately 1,000 tons of Russian wheat also reached Armenia by train via Azerbaijani territory. The Russian side announced plans to export another 132 train cars of wheat to Armenia via the same route.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated on October 21, 2025, that his country had lifted transit restrictions on Armenian cargo.
