Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan stated that his ten years in office were the most peaceful in the country’s history.
“We had the fewest casualties, absolutely no territorial losses, and we achieved economic success,” he said in an interview with the 5th Channel.
Commenting on the current authorities' policies, Kocharyan accused them of turning the idea of peace into a fetish to dismiss other priorities.
“Why are they so fixated on the peace agenda? There’s only one reason: they have nothing else to say. So they glorify peace as a concept and claim everything else is secondary. They present themselves as the only government capable of delivering peace.”
He continued, “This is coming from a man who brought about the most horrific war for Armenia, during whose leadership we suffered the highest number of casualties and injuries. That person now wants to pose as a dove of peace and a bringer of peace.”
