RA security chief: peace deal leads to regional stability

Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan met with ambassadors of European Union member states accredited in Armenia, where he presented the outcomes of the Armenia-Azerbaijan agreements reached on August 8, 2025, in Washington. He emphasized that these developments have ushered in a period of stable peace in the region.

Grigoryan also discussed the current state of Armenia–EU relations, including bilateral cooperation with individual member states. He specifically highlighted recent progress in the visa liberalization process.

In the second part of the meeting, Grigoryan addressed questions raised by the EU ambassadors.

On August 8, during a trilateral summit at the White House attended by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, a Joint Declaration was signed summarizing the summit’s outcomes. Armenian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov preliminarily signed a peace and interstate relations agreement in the presence of their leaders and President Trump.
