Pashinyan says no land swaps without public consent

Speaking with reporters, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the issue of enclaves, stressing that no official, including the prime minister, has the authority to renounce Armenia’s sovereign lands. He ruled out any deviation from the agenda of restoring Armenia’s territorial integrity, as reported by Aysor.am .

He stated that any discussion of land swaps is impossible without a clear stance from Armenian citizens.

“We have said we remain committed to our written obligations and categorically reject any force-based scenarios. Regarding other scenarios, delimitation must take place. This process should reaffirm the contours of territorial integrity based on the Almaty Declaration. Once that is restored, all remaining combinations and variations may be discussed.

I know there are talks about whether, in the case of Artsvashen, alternative scenarios might be preferable. But no one can pursue any scenario without the expressed will of the Armenian people,” said Pashinyan.

Earlier, Pashinyan wrote that “as a result of delimitation, we must regain Artsvashen and other occupied sovereign territories of Armenia.”
