During his visit to Copenhagen, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with Carsten Hønge, Deputy Speaker of the Danish Parliament, and members of the foreign affairs and European affairs committees.
The discussions focused on strengthening Armenia–Denmark bilateral relations, advancing Armenia–EU cooperation, prospects for reopening regional transport routes, and efforts toward establishing peace. Mirzoyan particularly emphasized the growing collaboration between the parliaments of Armenia and Denmark, especially within the Armenia–Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8) format.
He noted that the NB8 countries' strong commitment to democracy, rule of law, human rights, and good governance serves as an inspiration and support for Armenia’s ongoing reforms and its path toward deeper partnership with the EU.
Mirzoyan also referenced a March 2025 law passed by Armenia’s National Assembly to launch the country’s EU accession process, describing it as a reflection of the Armenian people’s aspirations expressed through a civic initiative.
Commenting on the agreements reached on August 8 in Washington, Mirzoyan said the unblocking of regional transit routes offers mutual benefits to all countries involved and beyond, contributing to expanded connectivity between Europe and Asia. He also outlined Armenia’s approach to signing a peace and inter-state relations treaty with Azerbaijan.
The sides also discussed various humanitarian issues.
Earlier in Denmark, Mirzoyan met with civil society representatives at the Danish Institute for Parties and Democracy (DIPD), stressing their vital role in peacebuilding and presenting Armenia’s foreign policy goals, reform agenda, and the “Crossroads of Peace” initiative.
