Papoyan: Armenia can bridge India and Europe

Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan, on a working visit to India, spoke at the ministerial plenary of the India–Europe Business and Sustainability Conclave. He highlighted Armenia’s investment environment and key infrastructure projects, including the planned dry port in Gyumri.

“Armenia’s geographic location enables it to serve as an economic, cultural, and logistical bridge between Europe and Asia. In this context, Armenia can connect India’s dynamic economy with Europe’s advanced markets, becoming an ideal hub for trade, manufacturing, and technological collaboration,” Papoyan said.

The minister also addressed the TRIPP initiative and the “Crossroads of Peace” project, underlining their role in enhancing regional economic cooperation and supporting peace efforts.

In Washington, Armenian, Azerbaijani, and U.S. leaders—Nikol Pashinyan, Ilham Aliyev, and Donald Trump—officially agreed to launch the “Trump Route.” Trump said the corridor would allow Azerbaijan to reach Nakhichevan while respecting Armenia’s sovereignty. Armenia is also establishing an exclusive partnership with the U.S. to develop the corridor, potentially extending rights for 99 years. Trump added that major U.S. companies are eager to invest, which would benefit all three countries. Pashinyan later clarified that Armenia had granted construction rights, not land ownership or lease.
