Opposition responds to PM’s promise to release key documents

Hayk Mamijanyan, head of the opposition “I Have Honor” parliamentary faction, responded during a press briefing to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s announcement that by year’s end, the government would publish key documents related to the Nagorno-Karabakh negotiation process—among them, a package from 2019 and a letter allegedly signed by former President Serzh Sargsyan.

“I can guess which letter he’s talking about. I can assert that President Sargsyan has never signed a letter or document that any Armenian citizen or his teammates would be ashamed of. When the letter is published, you’ll see,” Mamijanyan said, as reported by Armenpress.

Asked whether he had seen the 2019 document, Mamijanyan replied that while he hadn’t personally reviewed it, he is familiar with its main contents.

“I haven’t seen the 2019 package myself, but I know its approximate content. I know it was a document that, if built upon, could have allowed Armenia to secure what we wanted,” he added.

According to Mamijanyan, former President Sargsyan’s recent comments during the “Imnemnimi” podcast sparked a wave of public reaction and prompted a political discussion about releasing the documents. He stated that the opposition managed to obtain a commitment from the Prime Minister to release them by the end of the year.

Previously, PM Pashinyan said that crucial documents regarding the Karabakh peace talks—including the 2019 proposal and a letter signed by Serzh Sargsyan—would be made public before the end of the year.
