Armenia, EU stress importance of border demarcation

Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan met with Magdalena Grono, the European Union’s Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia. They highlighted the importance of maintaining momentum in the ongoing border delimitation process.

“The interlocutors discussed regional developments, addressed the potential and significance of unblocking regional communications, and jointly stressed the importance of the continued border delimitation process,” the official statement noted.

Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Vassilis Maragos, also attended the meeting.

On August 21, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the Armenia-Azerbaijan border delimitation would proceed based on the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration, using clarified maps.
