On November 19, Armenian Ambassador to the U.S. Narek Mkrtchyan met with representatives of the executive team at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), one of the leading American semiconductor companies, according to a post from the Armenian Embassy in the U.S.
The meeting focused on potential opportunities to expand AMD’s presence and operations in Armenia. Participating from AMD were Senior Director of Software Development Khang Dao, Director of Software Development Mehrdad Eslami Dehkordi, Senior Import/Export Manager James Chick, and Director of International Government Affairs Grant Gardner.
Joining the meeting virtually was Dan Gibbons, AMD Vice President of Engineering, who oversees AMD’s operations in Armenia.
The parties noted that the Memorandum of Understanding signed in August between the governments of Armenia and the U.S. on innovation cooperation in artificial intelligence and semiconductors opens new avenues for better utilizing the expertise of Armenian professionals at AMD.
On August 8, during a trilateral summit at the White House, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a joint declaration summarizing the outcomes of their talks. In their presence, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov initialed the agreement on establishing peace and interstate relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
