Pashinyan: Armenia recognizes TRIPP, not “Zangezur corridor”

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan responded to Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan’s recent statements by asserting that only Armenia has the authority to name infrastructure located on its territory, Armenpress reports.

“In Armenia, we have the Crossroads of Peace and the TRIPP project. Any other terminology is not applicable to the Republic of Armenia,” Pashinyan said.

Despite the official naming, Turkish and Azerbaijani officials continue referring to the transit route through southern Armenia as the so-called “Zangezur corridor”, a term Yerevan has repeatedly rejected due to its implication of extraterritorial control.

On August 8, Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a declaration in Washington. Clause 4 of the document states that Armenia will work with the U.S. and mutually agreed third parties to establish the framework for the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP).

Pashinyan has previously stated that the TRIPP initiative is part of Armenia’s broader “Crossroads of Peace” strategy, which aims to enhance regional connectivity based on sovereignty and mutual benefit.
