Deputy FM says peace pact benefits regional cooperation

Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan, summarizing the outcomes of his meetings in Tbilisi, stated that the agreements reached in Washington between Armenia and Azerbaijan create new opportunities not only for the two countries but also for Georgia, reports Armenpress.

He visited Georgia as part of a delegation led by President Vahagn Khachaturyan.

According to Kostanyan, Armenia and Georgia consistently engage in open and sincere dialogue on a wide range of issues.

“Armenia and Georgia always maintain transparent communication on matters of mutual concern. Naturally, we also discuss regional cooperation, because the peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan on August 8 in Washington will result not only in the unblocking of transport links between the two countries but will also create new opportunities for our friendly neighbor, Georgia. In this context, the bilateral agenda was quite extensive, and I am confident that the President of Armenia addressed all these topics during his meetings,” he noted.

Kostanyan emphasized that the Armenia–Georgia relationship remains strong and dynamic, marked by frequent mutual visits.

“In the past one or two months, we’ve had the visit of Armenia’s Prime Minister, followed by the Foreign Minister’s official visit to Tbilisi. The Minister of Justice was also here, and next week we expect the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure to visit. In addition, remote communication with Georgian counterparts remains active, underlining the importance of our relations,” Kostanyan added.

On August 8 in Washington, under the auspices of U.S. President Donald Trump, a peace summit was held between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. The meeting concluded with the signing of a declaration affirming the establishment of peace between the two nations.
