Representatives of Armenia’s civil society, whose names remain undisclosed, have arrived in Baku. According to Panorama.am, they traveled on a special charter flight aboard an Airbus A320, with a flight time of 50 minutes.
Azerbaijani media reported that the visit is a response to the October 21–22 trip of an Azerbaijani delegation to Yerevan. The civil dialogue between representatives of Armenia and Azerbaijan continues within the framework of the peace agenda outlined in the joint statement adopted in Washington on August 8.
It is believed that those who traveled to Baku include individuals who previously took part in a meeting held at Armenia’s Security Council office.
At its November 20 session, the Armenian government approved budget allocations for charter flights between Yerevan and Baku. The trip was not publicly reported in advance.
According to the government decision, five Armenian experts are visiting Baku to participate in a roundtable discussion on November 21–22. Approximately 18 million AMD (around $45,000) was allocated for this purpose. The rationale stated that such engagement is meant to strengthen dialogue between Armenian and Azerbaijani civil societies and help build mutual trust mechanisms between the two populations.
The earlier visit of Azerbaijani civil society representatives to Armenia was met with criticism, as their delegation included Dilara Efendiyeva, who had previously taken part in the blockade of Nagorno-Karabakh as an "eco-activist."
