Pashinyan: Armenia–Kazakhstan ties now strategic, practical

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed confidence that his official visit to Kazakhstan would give new momentum to Armenian-Kazakh relations, opening a new phase of cooperation. He made the remarks during a meeting with Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Armenpress reports.

Pashinyan stated that the relationship between the two countries has developed into a truly practical and strategic partnership. “I believe this new stage in our relations began with your official visit to Armenia last year, where we reached a number of important agreements. Some have already been implemented, while others are underway. This really is a strategic partnership, and I’m confident we will ensure its further development during this visit,” he said.

President Tokayev, in turn, noted that the people of Kazakhstan have deep respect for the Armenian people, their history, traditions, and culture, as reported by Pastinfo. He emphasized that Pashinyan’s visit would provide new impetus to the development of strategic partnership between the two countries.

He also mentioned that several important agreements are expected to be signed during the visit.

Earlier, an official welcoming ceremony was held for the Armenian delegation. One of the central streets in Astana has been named after Mesrop Mashtots in a symbolic gesture of friendship. Pashinyan is also scheduled to meet with Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov and the Speaker of the Mazhilis, Yerlan Koshanov.
