A draft law on cybersecurity was reviewed in Armenia’s National Assembly Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs. The bill focuses on securing the country’s critical infrastructure from cyber threats.
Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, presenting the bill’s core provisions at a press briefing, stated that the law defines which infrastructures are considered critical and require priority protection, Radar Armenia reports.
He emphasized that cooperation between the state and the private sector is central to the law’s implementation. “A new body will carry out cyber defense actions in cases where government systems come under cyberattack,” Hayrapetyan noted.
The legislation also envisions the establishment of a dedicated structure tasked with detecting, countering, and preventing cyberattacks targeting state systems. This entity will help ensure cybersecurity for both governmental networks and vital private-sector infrastructure.
