Kazakhstan’s Minister of Economy Serik Zhumangarin has announced that Astana may establish a new trade corridor to Turkey via Armenian territory. The proposed route would give Kazakhstan direct access to Turkish seaports, Sputnik Armenia reports.
“Currently, we move through Azerbaijan and Georgia to reach Black Sea ports. This new corridor would enable access to Nakhichevan and then directly into Turkey and its maritime terminals,” the minister stated.
The announcement comes against the backdrop of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s official visit to Kazakhstan.
