At a high-level meeting on the margins of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, focused on assessing the implementation of the UN Global Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in Persons, Armenia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Paruyr Hovhannisyan, stated that while notable progress has been achieved, new and evolving forms of trafficking demand sustained and coordinated actions, according to Armenia’s UN mission.
Hovhannisyan stressed that Armenia is fully committed to eradicating all forms of trafficking in persons and presented recent national-level achievements and reforms.
He also highlighted Armenia’s active cooperation with international monitoring bodies, particularly within the framework of the Council of Europe’s Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings and the Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA), which conducts regular evaluations and has recognized Armenia’s progress in the field.
