Minister says disabled veterans can get civilian jobs

The Armenian Ministry of Defense will offer employment to soldiers who became disabled during military service, Minister Suren Papikyan announced during a televised Q&A on Public TV. The jobs offered will not be directly tied to military service.

“We currently have opportunities for citizens with disabilities who possess military knowledge and experience. They can be employed, for instance, in military commissariats,” said Papikyan, as reported by Sputnik Armenia.

The minister emphasized that the initiative is aimed both at addressing social challenges faced by veterans and at improving their quality of life.

Member of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Defense and Security, Artem Mehrabyan, added that veterans with various degrees of disability can also be employed in defense industry companies.

Papikyan also noted that contract soldiers will receive monthly salaries ranging from 205,000 to 470,000 drams, according to Pastinfo.

Papikyan made these remarks alongside Andranik Kocharyan, chair of the parliament’s defense committee, and committee member Artem Mehrabyan, in response to video questions from the public.
