In a speech marking the eighth anniversary of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between Armenia and the European Union, Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan said the agreement, alongside the new EU-Armenia partnership agenda, remains a central pillar of the country’s reform efforts.
“Since its signing, CEPA has played a crucial role in fostering Armenia’s development, improving democratic governance, and advancing the rule of law, while also opening promising economic opportunities for all citizens,” he stated.
Grigoryan emphasized that Armenia and the EU have jointly implemented reforms in justice, public administration, human rights, and environmental protection, while also making progress in digital transformation, connectivity, and sustainable economic development.
“Today, we not only reflect on our journey so far, but also outline the road ahead. A future where CEPA, along with the new Armenia–EU Partnership Agenda, serves as the backbone of our reform strategy, the compass for our development programs, and a key anchor in our international relations. The Armenia–EU partnership is now entering a new phase, preserving CEPA’s foundational values while expanding its political and economic scope,” he said.
Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Vassilis Maragos, also spoke at the event, stating: “Over the years, our cooperation has grown, with the EU’s continuous support aimed at Armenia’s reform agenda, socio-economic stability, economic diversification, and stronger regional connectivity.”
Danish Ambassador to Armenia, Anne Toft Sørensen, highlighted Denmark’s current role as EU presidency holder and its contribution to the event.
“Since Denmark currently holds the EU Presidency, we are pleased to support today’s anniversary celebration by bringing Danish keynote speaker Synne Knudsen to Armenia. We highly value this opportunity to share Denmark’s experience in public sector innovation and collaborative reform across national and international partners. This approach enables the creation of structures and solutions aligned with the complexities of today’s world and helps unlock CEPA’s full potential,” she noted.
The Armenian government, the EU Delegation in Armenia, and the Embassy of Denmark marked CEPA’s eighth anniversary on November 25. The agreement forms the basis for strengthened political dialogue, economic cooperation, and shared commitment to reforms between Armenia and the European Union.
