Pashinyan denies issuing retreat orders during 2020 war

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during a press briefing that he never ordered any withdrawal of Armenian troops from sovereign territory during the 2020 war.

“I have never given any order for troops to retreat from any sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia,” he said, according to Auroranews.am.

He emphasized that nothing related to the war remains hidden from the public and that all information from criminal investigations aligns with what is already publicly known.

“This matter has been examined. I have been questioned under this case. Moreover, I’ve been scrutinized by the people. The 2021 parliamentary elections were that entire examination,” Pashinyan added.

He noted that detailed information about the war has repeatedly been presented both in parliamentary inquiry commissions and in his own public statements.

Earlier, National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan reported that 3,833 people were killed during the 44-day war.
