During a working visit to Brussels, Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan and Olof Skoog, Deputy Political Director of the European External Action Service, discussed expanding cooperation between Armenia and the European Union, including in defense, security, and the fight against hybrid threats.
They reviewed the broad Armenia–EU agenda, stressing the importance of deepening partnership.
The meeting also covered a wide range of regional and international issues of mutual interest. Abisoghomonyan highlighted the importance of the August 8 agreements reached in Washington, particularly in the context of unblocking regional transport infrastructure.
He also presented the Armenian government’s Crossroads of Peace initiative, emphasizing its role in enhancing connectivity within and beyond the South Caucasus.
On August 8, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a Joint Declaration at the White House. During the event, Armenian FM Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani FM Jeyhun Bayramov preliminarily signed an agreement “On the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan,” in the presence of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the U.S.
