Armenia, Turkey advance railway restoration talks

As part of the normalization process between Armenia and Turkey, representatives of the relevant government bodies from both countries met on November 28 at the Akhurik-Akyaka border crossing point and in Gyumri, according to Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This marked the second round of technical discussions focused on the restoration and potential operation of the Gyumri-Kars railway.

Ruben Rubinyan, Deputy Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly and Armenia’s special envoy for dialogue with Turkey, confirmed the development in a Facebook post.

“The second round of technical discussions on the restoration and operation of the Gyumri-Kars railway has taken place,” Rubinyan wrote.

On the same day, November 28, Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and his Azerbaijani counterpart Shahin Mustafayev co-chaired a session of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border delimitation commission in Gabala, Azerbaijan.
