ARMENIAN, TURKISH AND AZERI FOREIGN MINISTERS TO DISCUSS KARABAKH ISSUE AT NEXT MEETING

The Nagorno-Karabakh issue will be the main topic of the next meeting of the Armenian, Azeri and Turkish ministers planned on May 25 in Istanbul. As “Arminfo” agency reports with reference to “Zaman” Turkish newspaper, at the forthcoming meeting of Vardan Oskanian, Ismail Cem and Vilayat Guliyev within the framework of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization 10 anniversary, the most attention will be paid to the Karabakh issue for the first time. Speaking about the forthcoming meeting of the foreign ministers, Azeri ambassador to Ankara Mehmed Nevruzoghli evaluated it positively and welcomed Turkey’s attempts “for the fair and peaceful settlement of the Karabakh issue”. Azeri part will do its best for the issue peaceful settlement and “is ready to recognize self-government of Armenians residing in the region”. According to Nevruzoghli, as a result of blockade, Armenia is out of “main projects” and economic cooperation. Armenian economy suffered a lot as “over two million people has left the country”, noted he. In spite of this, according to the diplomat, Armenia “aims at peace, not leaving Azeri territory”. Nevruzoghli stated, “the official Yerevan keeps on proposing thesis, according to which, it is ready to hold referendum with participation of Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians for the issue settlement”. Nevertheless, Azeri side has a number of expectations from the coming Oskanian-Cem-Guliyev meeting in Istanbul.
