AAC to mark remembrance day of St. King Trdat, Queen Ashkhen and Virgin Khosrovadukht

On July 4, the Armenian Apostolic Church will mark the remembrance day of St. Trdat King, Ashkhen Queen and Khosrovadukht Virgin.

An exhibition of photographer Tigran Sahakyan’s works will open in the Ararat Diocese on the occasion.

Trdat III (250 – c. 330) was the king of Iranian Arshacid Armenia in 285-339. In 301, he proclaimed Christianity as the state religion of Armenia, making the Armenian kingdom the first state to officially embrace Christianity. He is recognized as a saint by the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Historical record mentions also his wife, Queen Ashkhen and his sister, Virgin Khosrovadukht, who were christened by St. Gregory the Illuminator in Aratsani River.
