Parliamentarians of Sweden, Belgium, Norway, Lebanon, Yugoslavia, Cyprus and Greece addressed UNESCO to protect from destruction the Armenian historical monuments located in the territories of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Nakhichevan. As reported by “Arminfo” agency, the resolution passed at the international seminar completed in the Armenian capital says that parliamentarians of the aforementioned states definitely demand “that UN, in particular, UNESCO, as well as the European Union to undertake measures to stop the cultural genocide and preserve the Armenian cultural legacy located in the territory of Turkey and other places, in particular, in Azerbaijan.” The resolution passed can contribute to the cause of recognition of the fact of the Armenian genocide in Ottoman Turkey in 1915 by the Parliaments and Governments of these countries. In the course of the press conference held today deputy of the Norwegian Parliament representing Communist Workers’ party Ask Aranleot stated directly, “it is enough for Norway to keep silent and it is time to take the lead of Sweden and France and recognize the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey in 1915.”
