Yesterday member of the youth’s wing of ARF Dashnaktsutsyun party marked the 87-th anniversary of the Armenian genocide in Ottoman Turkey in 1915 by holding a torchlight procession in Yerevan central streets. The procession was accompanied by singing patriotic songs. The action, in which some 300 young people participated, began with burning the Turkish national flag near the Opera Theater, continued in Baghramian Street passing by the buildings of the Parliament, US Embassy, Armenian President’s residence, Armenian National Academy of Sciences and finished at midnight by lighting a big fire in Tsitsernakaberd park of the Memorial complex of the genocide victims. One of the participants of the procession Tonik Tosuyan told the “Arminfo” correspondent that besides reminding of the tragedy of the Armenian people, “the action also aimed at condemning the actions of the governments of those countries, which had not officially recognized the Armenian genocide in Ottoman Turkey in 1915 yet.”
