BSA (Business software alliance) international organization monitored computer centers in Yerevan for pirated software, Narine Mkrtchyan, representative of BSA told a press conference devoted to “Problems of use and distribution of unlicensed software packages in Armenia” today.

The monitoring revealed that the out of 20 randomly chosen stores, only in four stores (UniComp, Doxx, Bever, Computer Service) customers were not offered unlicensed software to be installed to new computers.

Remaining sixteen stores, according Narine Mkrtchyan, offered their customers unlicensed software. Monitoring also showed that in some computer centers original products have not been offered at all, moreover, in some cases personnel “did not advise” installing licensed software at all.

As Narine Mkrtchyan mentioned the monitoring is aimed at showing the Armenian public benefits of license packages.

She informed that BSA will periodically conduct monitoring in order to warn the population about the risks of usage and distribution of pirated products.
