“North Gate” new tourism center to be established in Armenia

A new North Gate tourism center will be established in Armenia. The center will include several communities: Haghpat and Sanahin monastic complex, listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Akhtala, Odzun, Kobayri monastic complexes, Dsegh community. This decision was made at the government meeting in Vanadzor, the new center will be established as a part of Lori development program for 2010-2012. 

The ministry of economy was entrusted within six months to prepare a development program of the “North Gate” Tourism Center and submit it to the government. The primary objective of the program is to restore ancient monuments, establish the museum of medieval art and military affairs on the territory of the Akhtala monastery complex, construct a helipad in the village Odzun, open the park of tales in the village Dsegh.
