WASHINGTON EXCLUDES ARMENIA AND AZERBAIJAN FROM LIST OF COUNTRIES THAT ARE PROHIBITED TO SELL AMERICAN WEAPON

The US has not included Armenia and Azerbaijan in the list of the countries that are prohibited to sell American weapons. According to «Arminfo» agency, US State Department representative Philip Riker has stated this and noted that the decision was reached with taking into consideration «positive tendencies in Yerevan and Baku». «The exclusion of Armenia and Azerbaijan from the prohibiting list will let strengthen our military cooperation with both countries in the name of peace and stability in Caucasus.» Riker has also stated the US intends to «study all the appeals for acquisition of weapons from both countries». Armenia and Azerbaijan were included in the list prohibiting the sale of weapons since 1993 July because of unsettled situation of the Karabakh conflict.
