The members of the Council of the National Movement of Javakhk have sent a letter to Armenian President Robert Kocharian, in which they express dissatisfaction with lack of official Yerevan’s attention to the region and the ethnic Armenian population of Georgia. «Arminfo» agency reports referring to Georgian mass media, the letter authors say that after Kocharian was elected President of Armenia they hoped him to assist the Armenian population of Georgia. But later they were «shocked by Robert Kocharian’s statements made in the course of his visit to Georgia that he did not have anything in common with Javakhk separatists.» The authors of the letter assert that the Armenian President’s statements «were accompanied by arrests of Javakh population, which fought for liberation of Nagorno Karabakh.» Meanwhile commenting on the message content, a source close to the administration of the state’s head called the letter «provocation aiming at worsening relations between Yerevan and Tbilisi.» The source stressed that in the course of the visit to Georgia the Armenian President did not make any statements ascribed to him and could not call the Armenians of Javakhk separatists.
