AZERI PRESIDENT ADVISOR DENIES STATEMENTS BAKU-TBILISI-CEYHAN OIL PIPELINE INEFFECTIVE

The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline project is not only effective from the political and economic points of view, but is also necessary. As reported by “Arminfo” agency, Azeri president’s advisor on energy issues Ali Asadov told this opinion to journalists when commenting on statements by leader of the Democratic Party of Azerbaijan Rasul Guliyev that the BTC project is not effective. In Asadov’s words, calculations of foreign specialists evidence the contrary: according to their forecasts, the oil pipeline profitability makes 12.5%. The presidential advisor noted that a number of countries already today address requests to Azerbaijan to transport oil via the pipeline. Specifically, negotiations are being held with Kazakhstan, to which 45-48 million tons of oil are being exported at present. Concerning the aforementioned statement by Guliyev, the president’s advisor regretted that there are people among the Azerbaijanis, whose opinion coincides with the position of people and structures hostile towards Azerbaijan.
