REPRESENTATIVES OF ARMENIAN AND US MILITARY DEPARTMENTS SIGNED STATEMENT ON COOPERATION IN DEFENSE SPHERE

The statement on cooperation in the sphere of defense was signed within the framework of Armenian Defense Minister, Security Council Secretary Serge Sargsian’s visit to USA. Deputy Defense Minister of Armenia Artur Aghabekian and US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Eurasia Mira Ricardel signed the document. As reported by Armenian Foreign Ministry press service, within the framework of the visit a working conference of expert groups of US and Armenian military departments was held presided by Artur Aghabekian and Mira Ricardel. The conference aimed at regulation of concrete measures of cooperation between the military departments of the two countries. The parties arranged to focus on developing professional military education, the system of communication and on widening the peacekeeping forces being formed. Armenian Defense Minister Serge Sargsian also met with Director of US defense intelligence agency, vice-admiral Tom Wilson.
