Armenia has to work towards entering Armenian Genocide issue on international instances agenda

Armenian Genocide issue was moved to political and legal field from the sphere of history where it used to belong. Now Armenia has to take efforts to include the issue of Genocide and elimination of its consequences on international instances’ agenda, RA NAS History Institute Director Ashot Melkonyan said at “Armenian Genocide studies” book presentation. “International recognition of Armenian Genocide undergoes regression against the background of RA-Turkey rapprochement,” the historian stated. Many states, previously intending Armenian Genocide recognition at parliamentary level, refrained from the step, not to interfere with establishment of relations between Yerevan and Ankara.

“We mustn’t’ give in on Genocide issue,” Ashot Melkonyan stated.
