Armenia won’t face high inflation till the end of 2009

In near future, Armenian economy is running no inflation risks. Inflation in Armenia will be preserved at 2009 state budget-planned level, RA Finance Minister Tigran Davtyan told a news conference in Yerevan.

The Minister reminded that in 2009, inflation in Armenia comprised 2.7%, compared with 2008 results. “The index was quite expected, matching with one planned by 2009 state budget,” he said, expressing hope that Armenia won’t face high inflation will the end of 2009.

The Minister also added that 2010 budget project contains low inflation forecasts (3-4%) while the deflator is planned at 2%.

At the same time, in world economy and financial growth restoration circumstances, inflation risks will tend to increase. “In this case we’ll make alterations to our financial policy, by replacing it by more restrictive one,” he explained, adding that currently RA government is implementing a natural business cycle policy.
