Armenia does not try to benefit from contradictions of other states but seeks advantage in the smoothing of these contradictions. President of Armenia Robert Kocharian has stated this to «France-press» agency while answering the question if Armenia intends to change its policy toward Teheran from the standpoint of the US President’s statement that Iran is «the axis of evil». In Robert Kocharian’s words, in the basis of Armenia’s policy is the principle of weighted policy, and the specific character of South Caucasus requires certain caution. «As regards to Iran exactly, then Armenia and Iran have had good-neighbor relations for many hundreds of years and these relations at the present time have effects on developing economic cooperation», Armenian head has noted and added that there is not serious military aspect in the bilateral relations.
