OSCE MINSK GROUP CO-CHAIRS FOR KARABAKH CONFLICT SETTLEMENT ARRIVED IN YEREVAN

Today the OSCE Minsk group co-chairs for Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement have arrived in Yerevan. The mediators from Russia, the USA and France will have meetings with Armenia’s President Robert Kocharian, foreign minister Vardan Oskanian. This will be followed by the meeting of the international diplomats with Armenian journalists. The day before OSCE Minsk group Russian co-chair, deputy foreign minister of Russian Vyacheslav Trubnikov stated in Baku that the problem should be settled on «a basis acceptable for the two countries». He thinks the parties to the conflict have to leave out «everything or nothing» extreme requirements. According to him, the decisions should be reached by Azerbaijani and Armenian Presidents and this will be «historic steps». In Trubnikov’s opinion there is a necessity to expand the «format» of the talks as it is difficult for the Presidents to meet often. In his opinion, the Presidents could appoint their «representatives» for carrying on the talks.
