Director of Jerusalem “Institute of Holocaust and genocide”, editor in chief of “Encyclopedia of genocide”, professor Israel Charni has sent a letter to Israeli foreign minister Shimon Peres and Israeli Ambassador to Armenia Rivki Kohen, in which he stated his concern about the Israeli negation position regarding the issue of Armenian genocide recognition. “As a Jew I am ashamed of your position of negation of Armenian genocide: the negation of Armenian genocide equals the negation of Holocaust, has stated Charni drawing Israeli MFA’s attention to the results of the second vote on recognition of the fact of Armenian genocide held at the European Parliament February 28. The professor has also reminded about a document signed in 2000 by 126 Holocaust experts recognizing the fact of Armenian genocide. According to Charni’s convictions, even now when Israel is in a very difficult situation and needs the help of neighboring Turkey, the Jewish people can not avoid the issue of recognition of Armenian genocide that is a historic and moral task of all the nations.
