GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT LEVEL TO RISE SIGNIFICANTLY IF ARMENIA’S TRADE RELATIONS WITH NEIGHBOR COUNTRIES ARE SETTLED

In case of settling trade relations with its neighbor countries the level of the gross domestic product in Armenia will rise at least 30% and the export volume will increase twice. This forecast was made in the course of the economic forum held lately in London and dedicated to the problems of «Reduction of poverty, stability of debt and growth in CIS low-income countries.» Participant of the forum, Minister of Finance and Economy of Armenia Vardan Khachatrian reported that a decision was made in London to further reform the Armenian economy. In particular the emphasis was laid on strengthening the tax collection policy and gradual refusal from solving the problem of budget deficit via foreign grants and credits. «In other words, the Armenian Government will have to get rid of the habit of reanimating the economy by means of constant crediting from the outside,» – Khachatrian stressed. Nevertheless, in his words, Armenia will receive a total of $40 million within the framework of SAC-V structural reform program. It will get $20 million each this and next year. Later on the crediting volume along this line will be curtailed, and Armenia will entirely refuse such aid in the future.
