AZERI PARLIAMENT ATTEMPT “TO POLITICALLY EVALUATE EVENTS IN KHOJALU” ENDED IN A SCANDAL

A scandal took place at the session of the Azeri Parliament, which tried to give “a political evaluation of the events in Khojalu.” Baku press reports that taking into consideration the fact that French President Jacques Chirac had signed the document on recognition of the Armenian Genocide in 1915, Azeri parliamentarian Gurbanov stated that “Chirac became impudent.” The attempts of Speaker Aleskerov to warn the deputy of insulting expressions addressed to the head of the foreign state did not have any influence. Foreign diplomats demonstratively left the session hall as a result. It is noteworthy that Turkish Ambassador in Baku Unal Chevikez was among those leaving the parliament hall.
