U.S. NAGORNO KARABAKH CONFLICT NEGOTIATOR MET WITH ASSEMBLY’S WESTERN REPRESENTATIVES

The other day U.S. Special Negotiator to the Nagorno Karabakh Conflict Ambassador Rudolf V. Perina met with representatives of the Armenian Assembly of America. As the Assembly Yerevan office reports, Ambassador Perina’s objective is to brief the Armenian-American community on the peace process and to ask the Armenian Diaspora for its support in achieving peace in the region. The Ambassador stressed the opportunity for peace noting that Armenian President Robert Kocharian and Azerbaijani President Heidar Aliyev “are strong leaders.” While answering the question if the U.S. could urge Turkey to support peace in the region, Ambassador Perina said he and a delegation had recently returned from Ankara where they asked Turkey for its support in achieving peace.
