Energy rates in Armenia might grow in price by 40-60% by 2010. As «Arminfo» agency reports, this is the prognosis of the energy committee experts. The prognosis is based on the tendencies of the world price increase for energy carriers. According to the head of the administration of tariff policy of the energy committee of RA Robert Tsovian, the necessary volume of investments into energy system modernization and the level of recoupment of the investments are also taken into account. Tsovian said that the prognosis till 2010 was made without taking into consideration the Armenian nuclear power plant functioning. As it is known 40% of the energy produced in the republic is due to the nuclear power plant. It is planned to modernize the Razdan and Yerevan thermoelectric power stations, to equip them with less power-consuming plants due to which the cost of the kilowatt/hour energy will go down in price by 40%.
